Continental Airlines Begins Non-Stop Flights to Hawaii

Continental Airlines, one of the major American carriers, has launched a new non-stop service to Hilo in Hawaii. The route will begin as a daily service, flying from Los Angeles International Airport. There will also be a simultaneous service from San Francisco International Airport; however, this service will only fly once a week. The flights will provide easier connections between Los Angeles, San Francisco and Hilo (the second most populated city in Hawaii), which will be especially beneficial to Business travellers.

The new flights will coincide with Continental Airlines and United Airlines already impressive list of services to Hawaii. As a collective, the two airlines provide a connection between Hawaii and some of the most important Business hubs in America: Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco and New York, for example. Flights will also provide connections from these hubs to other key Business cities around the world; this will include cities in Europe, Canada and South America.

Chief Revenue Officer and Executive Vice President of United Continental Holdings, Inc, Jim Compton said: "We are excited to provide customers the only direct flights to Hilo from the mainland."

Mayor for the County of Hawaii, Billy Kenoi said: "Hilo has demonstrated its value as a premier visitor destination."

The service, beginning in June 2011, will operate a Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The aircraft has 160 seats divided into two classes, 16 seats are situated in First Class, with the remainder left in economy.

The First class seats come with individual power ports, allowing Business travellers to be able to work whilst they fly. As well as individual TV monitors to connect to the in-flight, on demand entertainment available. Seats are 21 inches wide with a standard pitch of 38 inches, and recline to provide a comfortable bed for Business travellers to rest, or sleep on, whilst on their journey.
